The challenge was not capability, but consistency and efficiency. Downer manages a high volume of complex, large-scale tenders across multiple sectors, often under intense time pressure and with large bid teams contributing content. Tender documentation needed to clearly articulate Downer’s strengths, align diverse inputs into a single compelling narrative and maintain a professional, cohesive presentation across every submission.
Downer required support to strengthen bid strategy, clarify win themes and streamline the production of high-quality tender documents that could be delivered reliably at scale.

Solution
Focused Marketing initially embedded an experienced writer within the Downer team, working closely with bid managers and subject matter experts to shape content, messaging and strategy from the inside.
We developed a comprehensive suite of professionally designed Word templates, folders, slip cases and tab dividers, establishing a practical, easy-to-use system that improved both efficiency and presentation. Our team edited and refined content, authored executive summaries and ensured each submission clearly articulated why Downer was the best partner to deliver the project.
Building on this foundation, Focused Marketing delivered bid strategy workshops to help teams identify and articulate strong win themes at the outset of each tender. These workshops empowered bid teams with clearer strategic direction, stronger storytelling and greater confidence throughout the proposal process.
